No matter how OCD you are about organization, keeping refrigerators pristine and arranged in some sort of methodical order is not the easiest thing to accomplish. There isn’t necessarily a rule book when it comes to structuring the insides of your icebox. As much as we wish there was a refrigerator fairy who did all the work for us, we unfortunately are left to figure it out all by ourselves. Luckily, Maytag French Door fridges efficiently utilize space making them a desirable refrigerator to have.
Here are a few tips we came up with for you when organizing your French Door Refrigerator.
Take Advantage of the Doors
Your fridge has a warm spot, and it’s the doors. Condiments, foods high in vinegar, salt or other preservatives, salsa, salad dressings, nut oils, and even orange juice are all great items that should be placed in the doors.
Leftovers at the top
When the leftovers are out of sight, they are out of mind. Do yourself a favor and place them at the top and in the front so that they won’t have a chance of getting lost.
Rearrange the shelves
It’s crucial that you set the shelves up to fit your lifestyle. One of the biggest perks of having a French door fridge is getting to be eye level with your food, so create a layout that works with your height, allowing you to see everything with ease. Don’t be afraid to change it up from how the refrigerator store had it set.
The Dairy
The top and middle back area are ideal locations for items such as milk, eggs, sour cream, yogurt and other dairy products. These are things that need to stay extremely cold and will have a better chance of staying fresh if placed there.
What Lives on the Bottom Shelf
When it comes to the bottom shelf, you are going to want to place all raw meats down there. The lowest shelf is generally the coldest place in the entire refrigerator. Also, if there are ever any spills from the meat, the cleanup is easier.
Labeling is your friend
When putting leftovers in a container, write the date it was prepared on the lid. Having a visual reminder can help you keep your refrigerator clean and your body healthy.
There are multiple perks to having a French Door refrigerator, but when it’s in disarray, it’s hard to appreciate them. It’s no small refrigerator so no matter what you do, be sure to arrange it in a way that won’t be overwhelming for you.
